  • Prelude to Christmas

finally, i was done with my room-cleaning session and also 1/2 way of packing my stuff. yes, i already started packing today =) coz i am worried that my stuff might be exceeding the permitted weight. if that is the case, i might have to do shipping which is definitely the last choice for me. so after spending the whole day of shifting, folding, stuffing and unfolding and stuffing again, my first luggage weighed 18KG !!!! which means i only have like 5 KG of space left ! and my second luggage weighed about 12 KG ! which mean i have 11KG of space and that leaves me around 16KG of space in total ! and i am only 1/2 way there ..

looks like there will be no more SHOPPING for me !! but that is such a difficult task specially during this time of year ! i just went to the mall on saturday with my housemate to just look around and to our surprise, the mall which was usually rather empty was tremendously crowded. everyone has started shopping for CHRISTMAS !! the atmosphere is so ........... Chrismassy with all the decorations and sales and jingle-bell and songs alike .... you just feel the holiday spirit .. so much so that my housemate and i ended up buying a couple of christmas decorative stuff coz we plan to have a CHRISTMAS EVE party !! *so excited* i bought this 55 inch snowman which is so adorable for only USD 10 and i intend to bring it back to Malaysia ..hopefully it doesnt take too much space.

and my apartment is the first one in the block to put up the Christmas deco ! gosh, it's gonna be a busy, busy period from next week on but i am all looking forward to it =)

so here's a day out at K-mart 2 weeks back and they already put their christmas stuff on sales.

    Autumn in New York

Late Autumn in Washington Park, Albany

This was something that i supposed to upload like ages ago. But as usual, only able to find time up till now and autumn is already almost gone. Today's temperature dipped to -4 Celcius !

I have to say Autumn is the prettiest season of the four. Winter came in second because of the icy-cold discomfort that it brings. Autumn is just nice - not too cold, a gentle cooling breeze, purplish orange sky, beautiful golden trees, and a bed full of fallen brown and sometimes red leaves that makes you wanna just lie there and watch the squirrels busy gathering nuts and climbing up the trees. The list could just go on.

That is why i decided to take a walk down to Washington Park in downtown Albany two weeks ago. It was pretty random actually. We were on our way to eat Dim Sum in this awesome Kwangtong Restaurant called CCK and then we passed by the park and i caught the beautiful sight of the trees in various shades of colours. And i thought i must really go and take a couple of pictures before all the trees are bared naked in the next coming weeks.

autumn is a romantic season for some. and just simple joy in catching the falling leaves for others.

my friends made me wear this stalk of dried leaves from the pond. they make beautiful decorations. *we know coz we sort of plucked like a dozen of them*

and finally, yves, sue and TF (who droves) us there

who would have guessed a quiet place like Albany has such a pretty treasure within.

    Early Autumn in Vermont

During the beginning of Autumn, the CCC organized a trip down to Vermont which is a place popular for foliage. It was quite an adventurous trip because we encountered the emergency moments of just circling around the town looking for a washroom, and then getting lost because we got the wrong place, ended up in a stranger's house for washroom, and the rush-hour hike and tour around Woodstock town.

Vermont just reminds me of Maine in a way. The people are so friendly, laid back, and the sceneries are gorgeous. Definitely a great place to experience the foliage.

  • Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This

She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"

    You're gonna miss this
    You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
    These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
    But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"

    Cause you're gonna miss this
    You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
    These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
    But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
    Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
    And she keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
    One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but...

    You're gonna miss this
    You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
    These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
    But you're gonna miss this"

~guess sometimes we kinda wish for the time to quicken its pace that we missed to appreciate and feel the good moments that we are in~

it is hard to tell if someone is actually happy from a photo but it is easy to tell if the someone is unhappy.

after all, ones emotions are difficult to hide.

  • Vote for Change!

Yes, vote for change and change is here now that Obama is the President of America. i didn't follow much but with the excitement around in office since the Presidential Debate started, it is hard not to stick around as this is probably the most happening election ever. i guess what the bus driver said made sense - that the election day is everybody's day since whoever will be President will definitely affect the rest of the world. Both of their speeches were inspiring specially from McCain's concession speech:

We fought -- we fought as hard as we could. And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours.

A lost election will never mean more to me than the privilege of your faith and friendship.

Every candidate makes mistakes, and I'm sure I made my share of them. But I won't spend a moment of the future regretting what might have been.

i thought his speech was rather touching.

Anyway, let's hope that the new President will be able to deliver the changes that everybody is hoping for.

    ******

The month of October passes by rather quickly. But it was one of the best month cause it was my first Autumn experience and also my first Halloween.

We started Halloween celebration like 2 weeks before by going to this Corn Maze Spooky Night & Pumpkin Festival in Liberty Ridge Farm. It was so fun !

     IMG_0402

winnie & me at the entrance

    IMG_0409

what is halloween without huge pumpkins?

    IMG_0450

check out the corn maze where the spooky night is held when the sky turned dark. it was so big. imagine getting lost inside.

sue & me at this Wheel Game. we are like lab rats running on a threadmill but much slower coz it was so hard to balance.

    when night falls ...

    IMG_0530

the gals warming up while waiting for the spooky night ! it was a really really cold night .

     IMG_0563

gosh, this pic gives me goose bump ! was taken before we enter the corn maze.

    IMG_0550

some rules we have to obey

    IMG_0572

inside the maze ...it was totally pitch black... sue was too afraid to look around incase any scary monster suddenly appeared. our mision is to find the way out "alive"...

    IMG_0576

finally, the group who survived the Haunted House and Spooky Night after an hour of getting lost in the maze.

It was really FUN ! i remembered one of the scariest character was this guy who dressed up like the guy from SAW and he was carrying this huge electric saw that gives off the creepiest sound just like in SAW. when we bumped into him, all the gals screamed SO LOUD and started running and somehow we all banged into each other and fell down so hard on the ground. *totally embarassing*

    On Halloween Night

since we couldnt get enough of horror night at the corn maze, we thought of going for another haunted night at the New York State Museum since it was FREE ADMISSION.

    IMG_0735

the so-called costume for the night. winnie got this for like 87 cents at CVS and we all tried it on for fun to take pics. kinda regretted that i didn't buy a costume.. should have bought one coz i figured out that was the only time i could dress as anything i want. i would have gone gothic like the daughter in Addam's Family.

    IMG_0756

the New York State Museum was turned into a spooky place.

    IMG_0764

one of the character greeting us outside the entrance

well, in comparison with corn maze spooky night, this is Nothing ! It was not scary at all though we did scream for the fun of it till my stomach got a stitch. And it was only like 30 minutes.

    IMG_0779

then we went to a bar called Jillian's in downtown since the night was still young.

    IMG_0773 \

look at the queue that was ready to get in. and those costumes ... sigh, really should have gotten one.

    IMG_0778

the couple that went as ... errrm... i cant figure out.

    IMG_0784

i thought this guy's outfit was really cool ! SPIDER WEB ..

    IMG_0814

they had an awesome rock band called 10 year vamp. the female lead singer totally rocked the house.

    IMG_0800

and winnie is all smilez coz she gotta club after all ...

    IMG_0805

this is one of the funniest character in the house...

    IMG_0812

and check this out.. one of the member from KISS !

    IMG_0819

outside of the bar where more and more people are trying to get in...

    IMG_0831

oooh. .. phantom of the opera?

    IMG_0789

    say *happy halloween* everyone =)
